As part of their strategic growth plan, Central RPL’s most recent focus has been on improving their manufacturing process with the purchase of a BJM Machining Centre. This significant investment will not only increase productivity but ensure consistency, accuracy and improved quality across their wide range of PVC-U window and door products.
Paul Manison, Operations Director at Central RPL, comments: “Since The Boing Boing Group purchased Central RPL in 2015, our focus has been on improving customer intimacy and the already excellent service levels our customers were accustomed to. One of the biggest changes we made was a full PVC-U system move to Profile 22’s Optima Suite. The quality of the product alone is excellent and offers us the flexibility to manufacture to a higher standard, but we have had to make some changes to our machinery to accommodate the new system. The detail of the new BJM Machining Centre fits perfectly with the Optima profile, which in turn enables us to increase production, improve accuracy and achieve consistent quality finishes.
“Central RPL has also grown by some 25% over the last 3 years, with targeted plans for more, so we also wanted to ensure we have capacity to support further increases in production. The new BJM Machining Centre enables us to do this – we are now consistently manufacturing around 1,000 frames every week and have the capacity to increase this by up to 20%.
“As every fabricator knows, upgrading a machining centre is not an easy task as it is so integral to the fabricating process. In an ideal situation you would run the new and existing machine side-by-side and make the gradual switch, but size and capacity does not always allow for that. It wasn’t a seamless switch over for us, but we are delighted with the speed of the new machine and the results we are now getting.
“The new machining centre is the final stage of machinery investment at Central RPL for now. Our focus will now move on to some of the new products we are introducing from the Optima range, such as the Heritage Flush Casement, as well as some new customer service initiatives. Everything we do at Central RPL is focused on becoming a true one stop shop for our installer customers and the difference the new machining centre has made takes us another step closer to this goal.”
